Erika is a Community Organizer for the town of Woodlake in Tulare County.  She was born and raised in Nicaragua. After receiving her law degree in 2002, Erika worked for the National Assembly of Nicaragua as a legal advisor for six years.

Camila Chavez

Camila Chavez

Executive Director

Ms. Chávez is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Dolores Huerta Foundation (DHF). From the DHF headquarters in Bakersfield, Ms. Chávez oversees training for low-income community members in the areas of leadership and organizing skills specific to civic and electoral participation so that they can become catalysts for change in their own communities.

Juanita Chávez-Thomas is assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of fundraising programs and initiatives to support the DHF's community organizing, leadership development, civic engagement and policy advocacy. She provides support in all aspects of fundraising including web site, social media, and mobile development.

Lucia Gonzalez

Organizing Director

Lucia was born and raised in the rural agricultural town of Seville.  She worked in the fields alongside her parents picking fruit and grapes in the Central Valley, where they became followers of Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers. In 1973, when the strike came to the Dinuba area, the Gonzalez family joined.

Araceli is an advocate for women's rights, and strongly believes in
equality. She is a community organizer in Lost Hills, a small rural
agricultural community about 40 miles northwest of Bakersfield, CA. She has
worked for the Dolores Huerta Foundation since September 2012.

Maria Yepez

Maria Yepez

Weedpatch Organizer (Kern)

Maria Yepez is the organizer for Weedpatch, a small rural agricultural community twenty miles south of Bakersfield, CA. Her compassion and spirit first motivated her to work as a volunteer for the DHF. Since joining the DHF staff in 2007, Maria and her family have served a critical role mobilizing members of the community and organizing meetings.
